Over the next few weeks, we will be sharing brief posts that will serve to educate and encourage you in your health journey. Today's post is all about WATER!
Our bodies are mostly made up of water, and all of our daily body functioning down to the cellular level relies on that water. When we don't drink enough water, we are putting our bodies at a serious disadvantage.
There are countless studies showing how much our hydration impacts us: our mood, motivation, energy level, digestion, ability to heal, and metabolism (just the tip of the iceberg!). Studies also show that people who regularly drank a glass of water before eating a meal lost up to 44% more weight than those who didn't .
Are you drinking enough water? An easy way to find out is to take your weight and divide that by 2. The resulting number is the minimum amount of water you should try to drink in a day in ounces.
Not a big fan of water? Some easy ways I've found to drink water include flavoring it with True Lemon/True Lime powder flavorings which are naturally sweetened with stevia (love the peach lemonade flavor!), Zevia (flavored carbonated water that I think is even better than soda), infusing my water with fruits and herbs (mint anyone??), and just plain ol' addition of ice cubes.
Find a cute water bottle and carry that sucker around with you. Sip on it throughout the day and drink about 16 oz. before your meals, and I bet you'll find you can increase your daily water intake pretty quickly.
