I have seen some shocking statistics floating around claiming that upwards of 75% of our annual weight gain is over the holidays: Thanksgiving to January 1. That’s crazy! In two short months, we are capable of making more progress towards derailing our health than during any other time of the year. The massive amounts of sugar and over indulging take it’s toll on our bodies in countless ways from our increasing waist lines to our blood sugar spikes and elevated cholesterol.
If you’re like me, you use January 1st as a new stepping off point. A fresh start. A clean slate. It’s a time of setting goals for the year, and for many of us, our weight or health is included in those goals. Here’s my challenge to you this holiday season. DON’T WAIT FOR JANUARY 1st. It’s no magic day. Make your goals now (see this post here on setting good goals), in the midst of our holiday season, and start working towards them TODAY. There’s no benefit in waiting.
