Know you need to workout but lacking motivation to actually do it? Here are some ideas to try if you need help!
-Do you have to carve out time early in the morning to exercise and the thought of waking up any earlier just kills you? Try going to bed with your workout clothes on the night before and your sneakers by the bed ready to slip on. It makes the morning process less painful and that much easier to commit to actually going and working out.
-Grab a friend to be your workout buddy. I was always the most consistent with my gym workouts when I knew a friend was there waiting for me. Now that I don't have my gym membership anymore (not kid friendly), I find that even just logging my workouts on the MyChallenge tracker app keeps me motivated!
-Do you save your workouts until the end of the day and find that you're so exhausted you don't actually get to the workouts? Try adding in some protein/nuts/seeds for an afternoon snack that will energize you and keep you going until your workout.
-Short on time? Try some HIIT exercises! 10 minutes is better than nothing!
-The workout you have planned seems too hard you don't think you can do it? Give it a go! You can always modify where you need to. You never know what your body is capable of unless you push it and there is absolutely no shame in modifying.
-Little kids underfoot? I find the most success with just waiting until they are asleep (at least the little one). Lately I've also been experimenting with workouts first thing in the morning after everyone eats breakfast. Tummies are full and kids are ready to play with toys they hadn't seen since the day before which in turn keeps them out of my space.
-Need a little oomph to get you going? Beachbody has a great pre-workout called Energize. Key ingredients include beta-alanine, low-dose caffeine from green tea, and plant-based quercetin scientifically shown to delay exercise-induced muscle fatigue, improve performance, and help you push harder, longer. I may or may not mix some up for a mid morning drink if I'm having a bad mood-dragging-mom day...
-Turn your "I don't want to workout today" into "I WILL workout today!" Sometimes just the mental shift makes all the difference!
