A new nutrition program came out this year called 2B Mindset. Before I lose you, it's not another DIET. This has been a game changer for me on how I view food and choose food to eat and I highly recommend it for EVERYONE whether you're trying to lose weight, maintain weight, or just live healthier. It is also changing how I will be helping my patients. At work my patients typically have long lists of illness and diseases that for the most part are preventable. Since good nutrition is foundational to good healing, we are often left working uphill in trying to help the patient recover from injury because they have a poor nutritional history. I'll be incorporating the 2B Mindset in my patient education programs starting next year and am excited to see how my patients benefit from this.
What I like about this program:
-It's not a one-size fits all approach. No two people are alike in their dietary needs so a nutrition program needs to be flexible. This program is great at general education and teaches you how to plate your food throughout your day and is customizable for YOU.
-It's a lifestyle, not a diet. Feel like you can't eat out with friends or enjoy going to BBQ's because of the diet you're following? 2B is great because it teaches you how to navigate eating out and eating in social settings while still working towards your goals.
-There is no counting of calories, measuring food, and no deprivation or cutting out of food groups. Find freedom in food and ways to fuel your body so you feel great, satisfied, and ready for your day.
-It teaches you how to grocery shop and fill your pantry so you are prepared to make great meals.
I'll be certified as a mentor in the 2B Mindset program by the end of October and am excited to dive in and help people live healthier lives (and not become my future patients!). Starting in November I will be starting a rolling admission for a Facebook group dedicated to those following 2B where we will offer accountability, encouragement, recipe suggestions and helpful educational tidbits. I hope you'll join us!
