Life can be crazy. Our schedules are hectic, our work is demanding, our families and friends can be filled with drama, and our internal fuel tank continuously sputters on empty as we just try to keep our heads above water. In effort to keep up, we tend to cut out things in life that feed us, things that feed our souls.
In order to be able to navigate life and relationships and challenges and hardships, you have to take care of you. You can't pour into other lives if you have nothing to pour out of yourself. You can't effectively navigate the twists and turns of life if you're barely holding on and looking backwards. You can't neglect yourself and think you can help others well.
I encourage you today if you aren't already, to stop just existing and start truly LIVING. We have such a precious gift in life and we shouldn't waste one second of it. Stop and take a few moments to admire the handiwork of God in his creation. Savor that hot cup of tea with your eyes closed while you think about a memory that makes you smile. Make plans to learn how to do something you've always wanted to try. We never know how much time we will be blessed with in this life--so make the most of the time you have and try to savor and find the positives while letting go of the bad; then give thanks!
What are you doing for self care this week? Going for a jog? Curling up on the couch with a new book? Grabbing a new pair of running shoes? Spending some extra time in prayer? Feel free to share some ideas or things you're doing below!
